The 44th annual Kalevala Day will be a tribute to the Finnish sauna and sauna culture, and include a sauna built between 1914 and 1918. There will be sauna stories and songs, a presentation about Finnish sauna culture, dancing and music by the Finnish Choral Society, Evergreen Kantele group and solo by Maria Mannisto.
Called "imaginative and versatile," Finnish pianist Paavali Jumppanen performs.
Activities geared to adults at this Salolampi Language Village weekend may include baking/cooking demonstrations, handicrafts/weaving or small wooden projects. Significant time will be dedicated to connections around music, art or handicrafts; games, books and other cultural resources; and enjoyment of food, coffee and sauna together, all with a common Finnish undercurrent.
Both days of the Festival are filled with music, dancing, food, lectures, demonstration, vendors and activities for young and old alike. The Viking Encampment and Sami Village will once again be present.
"Maple & Spruce, Birch & Pine" The violin duo Miolina plays new works by Finnish composer Tomi Räisänen and pieces by other Nordic composers.
The Finnish kantele group appears as part of the Folk Fest Residency, on their latest U.S. tour.

As one of the world's leading professional a cappella groups, the four Finns of FORK have toured the globe with magnificent shows that fearlessly combine music, stand-up, theatre, dance and lights into an elegant night out with a fine-tuned sense of humor.
