WI: Viola Turpeinen Day

Little Finland Hurley, WI, United States

Little Finland, a museum compound near Hurley, annually recognizes Viola Turpeinen, the first woman accordionist star in America.  The second-generation Finnish-American, beginning in the 1920s she played the Finnish dance circuit in the upper mid-west region of Michigan / Wisconsin / Minnesota. Finn Power band will perform.
