February 28 is Kalevala Day, in honor and celebration of Finland’s National Epic. Elias Lönnrot collected the poems in Finland and Karelia and edited and compiled them into the first edition of “Kalevala" in 1835. See link below for more.

FFN Past Performer of the Year Sara Pajunen, violin/vocals (and friends) performing in the Boston Symphony Orchestra's Music of the Midnight Sun festival. Melding Finnish and Finnish-American influences, traditional and new music, and classical and folk approaches, Sara Pajunen creates breath-like, woven sound using violin, accordion, and voices.
