The Finnish Sliding Festival has been a fun wintertime event on the Iron Range since 1938. Sledding, skating, music, food, tori and more!
Second annual winter event. Just show up and do any or none of the mentioned activities and hang out. Meet us at the Natural Harvest Food Coop in Virginia at 2:30pm and then we'll head to Britt to play on private trails until it's time to warm up and chill out.
Featured poets include: Gary Boelhower, Daniel and Sandra Oyinloye, James (Jim) Johnson (read by Marlene Wisuri) Sheila Packa, Steve Leppälä, and Johan Ludvig Runeberg (read by Hanna Erpestad). A special Finnish treat, "Runeberg Torte" (Runebergintorttu) in honor of the poet, will be served.
Finnish family weeks and weekends at Salolampi Language Village allow grandparents, parents, children, aunts, uncles and cousins the opportunity to explore Finnish language and the culture together and to share experiences and build memories that will last a lifetime. Enjoy Finnish language lessons, food, crafts indoor and outdoor activities and more.
