MI: Heikinpäivä

In 1999, the Finnish Theme Committee of the City of Hancock created a new Finnish-American celebration of winter, Heikinpäivä. The celebration’s themes are taken from Finnish folk saying associated with the name day for Heikki (Henrik’s day — January 19).
2018 events are held on January 10, 11, 19, 23-28, and February 2, 5 and 6.
The full day of activities on January 27 includes the tori, parade, polar bear dive and more.
Events take place in Hancock, most at the Finnish American Heritage Center. The January 19 film is at the Calumet Theatre.
