CLOSED — Job Opening: Executive Assistant

Position Description:


Finlandia Foundation National (FFN) seeks a highly organized, proactive, and mission-driven Executive Assistant to provide comprehensive administrative and operational support to the Executive Director and assist with key organizational functions. This role is central to the effective coordination of communications, scheduling, board engagement, and special projects across a nationally active nonprofit organization.

The Executive Assistant serves as a liaison among the Executive Director, staff, Board of Trustees, chapters, and external partners, ensuring that organizational priorities are advanced in a timely and professional manner. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, discreet, adaptable, and committed to supporting FFN’s mission of promoting Finnish and Finnish-American culture across the United States.

Being a team player is central to the work culture at FFN. The Executive Assistant will be able to take part actively and constructively in a team setting that is in-person as well as in virtual meetings and be a motivated self-starter. Having a good sense of humor and can-do attitude, excellent presentation skills, being able to offer and respond to constructive criticism and differing perspectives, and adhering to timelines are characteristics we seek in a new team member.

Job Opening: Curator – On-site

This position sits at the intersection of historical museum and art gallery curation. Finlandia Foundation National seeks a full-time, on-site Curator in Hancock, Michigan to lead the development of exhibitions and interpretive experiences across the Finnish American Heritage Center (FAHC). We are seeking a curatorial professional with the ability to do hands-on curatorial work as well as the ability to transform the overall visitor experience in our buildings. The Curator will be responsible for shaping a cohesive, engaging, and meaningful visitor experience across multiple spaces. The Curator will build on the strong legacy of the Finlandia Art Gallery while expanding into exhibitions and programming that incorporate art, culture, history, and Finnish-American heritage.

The Curator will play a central role in defining how visitors experience the FAHC—creating exhibitions and environments that are visually compelling, intellectually engaging, and rooted in the mission of FFN.

Job Opening: Development Director (remote)

FFN is seeking an experienced Development Director to lead and expand our philanthropic
initiatives. Reporting directly to the Executive Director, this role is instrumental in leading a
comprehensive fundraising strategy to support the FFN’s mission and expand our impact.
The Development Director will be a frontline position. The ideal candidate will bring
expertise in major gift fundraising, moves management, event planning, planned giving,
Board and volunteer management, and annual giving. Additionally, the Development
Director will have experience crafting compelling donor communications and marketing
materials.
