Steam Through Time: The Four Generations of the Finnish Sauna

Sauna advocates and hosts of the podcast The Upper Bench are joined by Helsinki-based Lassi Liikkanen in a discussion about the different eras of Finnish sauna through a historical lens. They will look at how the technology of sauna has shaped the practice of sauna, beginning from shadows of pre-historic sauna and emerging at the 21st century dominated by the technically colorful world of private saunas.
Dr. Lassi Liikkanen is an adjunct professor of human-centered product design at Aalto University in Finland, and works full-time in the Finnish industry around digital transformation and interaction design. As a Saunologist he collects, creates, digitalizes and disseminates sauna-related knowledge through Saunologia.fi. His ambition is to help improve the quality of Finnish style saunas from Earth to Mars.
