Hosting the Performer of the Year

POY 2024

Miska Kajanus

Click above to reach POY Coordinator Katariina Lehtonen to determine availability for Miska’s appearance.

Once you have connected with Katariina, she will provide a booking agreement for the FFN chapter representative to complete.

The booking agreement will confirm arrangements made between Miska and the FFN chapter hosting the event.

The flyer (below) is available to include in your e-communications promoting Miska’s appearance, and as a PDF to print as a handout in advance or on the day of his program.

FFN Performer of the Year Ida Metsberg is looking forward to entertaining your chapter’s members and friends with her award-winning musical style! Ida is available to perform at your location from January through December of 2023. A virtual appearance is also a possibility (see below).

Please review the following information, and contact POY Coordinator, FFN Trustee Katariina Lehtonen, to discuss date of appearance and questions you may have (click box at left).

TRAVEL

The POY’s travel expenses to and from performances/events organized by/for FFN chapters are covered by a travel grant from FFN to the POY.

ARRANGEMENTS

Working directly with the POY, the host chapter is responsible for:

  • Confirmation of the approximately 60-minute performance time, date and place
  • Artist honorarium/performance fee of $590, paid directly to the POY
  • POY’s local/ground transportation
  • Overnight hosting/accommodations (may be at a hotel or a chapter member’s residence)
  • Physical arrangements such as audio/visual, sound system or other staging needs at the performance site, to be confirmed with the POY

WORKSHOPS

Chapters may invite the POY to give a workshop for a fee negotiated between the POY and hosting chapter.

NOTE: Chapters may charge an admission fee to help cover the cost of the POY concert and/or workshop.

ADVERTISING

FFN will provide promotional material/artwork to the host chapters so that they may post the information and/or print quantities for publicizing the event.

Hosting chapters will make every effort to attract audiences to the performance, within and also beyond the Finnish-American community.

PUBLICITY

The host chapter will promote/advertise the POY appearance within its community. High and low resolution photos of the POY are available, as is a press release that may be adapted and customized to the appearance.

PROGRAM BROCHURES

Ask about a quantity of the 8.5″x11″ POY flyer from FFN to assist with promotion and for distribution at the performance.

We can provide you with a photo and information to assist you in creating your own promotional materials. If you need assistance, please contact Kath Usitalo at kath@finlandiafoundation.org.

POST-EVENT REQUIREMENTS

After an in-person concert, please provide information and high resolution photos of the event to: kath@finlandiafoundation.org

VIRTUAL POY EVENT

Due to the restrictions associated with COVID-19, FFN offers an alternative to a live, in-person POY event. A chapter may arrange a private, online viewing for its members and guests of a 30-minute pre-recorded concert, with a live introduction by the POY and post-concert Q&A.

Working directly with the POY, the host chapter is responsible for:

  • Confirmation of the Zoom performance time and date
  • Contacting the FFN office, which will set up the Zoom coordinates for the event
  • Promoting the event and providing the Zoom information to its members

Complete the online booking form (see blue button above). You may contact POY coordinator Katariina Lehtonen at lehtonenk@comcast.net with any questions you may have about the POY engagement.

NOTE: FFN offers this online program at no charge to chapters.
