Influence of Nordic Architecture in the Northwest with John Nelson

The 3-weekend festival continues, featuring Symphonies 1 and 6 by Jean Sibelius, and showcasing Music Director Osmo Vänskä in his acclaimed role as “our greatest living Sibelian.” Violinist Elina Vähälä plays the original 1903-04 version of the Finnish composer’s Violin Concerto. Pianist Ruusamari Teppo will perform a short Sibelius program before the concert.

This month's selection is Dog Park by acclaimed Finnish-Estonian author Sofi Oksanen. It is a captivating story of intrigue, betrayal, and murder in the global fertility market from Oksanen, “an international publishing sensation frequently likened to Stieg Larsson” (The Guardian), Dog Park begins in Helsinki, 2016.
