MI: Sauna Stories

Record your sauna memories!
“Sauna Stories” is an oral history project from the Finnish Theme Committee of Hancock. This is a recorded audio and visual project inspired by NPR’s StoryCorps.
All are welcome to share their most treasured sauna memory, history, or experience for the camera and/or microphone.
Whether the traditions of the sauna are a long part of your Finnish-American heritage or you’re a recent adoptee of the culture, all ages and people are welcome!
𝗪𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝗶𝘀 “𝗦𝗮𝘂𝗻𝗮 𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀”?
Recordings take place Feb. 19-23, 2024 by reservation inside a mobile Copper Country Sauna parked at the Finnish American Heritage Center.
𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁’𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗹𝗶𝗸𝗲?
Video and/or audio recording sessions to be limited to 15-20 minute slots.
Subjects can opt to interview solo, or you may bring a guest to capture conversation.
Soundbooth is a mobile Copper Country Sauna kept to a reasonable temperature. Fully clothed and comfy!
𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗵𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗻𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗺𝘆 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀?
These recorded histories and memories will be given to the Archive at the Finnish American Heritage Center. 2nd Sandbar Productions will also edit the visual footage into a compilation of stories for the general public to view via the Archives and other public forum.
