Jazz saxophonist Juli Wood was in great demand as FFN Performer of the Year, traveling across the country and even to Anchorage, Alaska during her term as POY, which began in September of 2018.
She was also a hit at FinnFest USA 2017 in Minneapolis, where she showcased her interpretations of Finnish folk tunes from her CD, Synkkä Metsä (Dark Forest). The Chicago resident has 25 years of experience at clubs and music festivals, from the Windy City to Finland, the home of all four of her grandparents, who immigrated in the early 1900s from Ostrobothnia to Minnesota.
