Finlandia Foundation National Opens 2025 Grants and Scholarships Cycle, Establishes the Florida Kerhotalo Fund
Finlandia Foundation National (FFN), the leading Finnish-American cultural organization, is excited to announce the opening of its 2025 grants and scholarships application cycle. Since the 1950s, FFN has supported Finnish and Finnish-American culture, arts, and education, starting with its first scholarship awarded to renowned Finnish composer Einojuhani Rautavaara in 1968.
In 2024, FFN’s mission received a major boost through a generous donation from the American Finnish Club of Lake Worth, known locally as Kerhotalo. This contribution established the Florida Kerhotalo Fund, a unique initiative supporting projects aligned with FFN’s mission. While applications from across the country are welcome, Florida-related projects will receive priority consideration.
A Legacy Redefined
Historically a community hub, Kerhotalo has transitioned into a philanthropic role following the sale of its physical space. The establishment of the Florida Kerhotalo Fund ensures its legacy endures, providing sustainable support for Finnish-American initiatives.
“Kerhotalo has secured its legacy and set a remarkable example for others,” said FFN Executive Director Tommy Flanagan. “We’re honored to partner with them on this impactful initiative.”
Kerhotalo President Sal Perna added, “This fund allows us to continue supporting the community in a new way, ensuring future generations benefit from our efforts.”
The Florida Kerhotalo Fund was born with this legacy in mind. Community members wishing to make charitable contributions to the fund may also do so at any time on the FFN Donations Page. Simply select “Florida Kerhotalo Fund” in the dropdown menu.
