ONLINE: Lament Singing with Emmi Kuittinen

In this online workshop you will learn the lament traditions of Karelia and Ingria. Laments were sung in parting situations and in the most important rites of human life, like marriage and death. Students will learn to lament with exercises and write their own small lament. No experience with lamenting, singing, or Finnish or Karelian language is required. Please bring some paper and pen for notes and a cloth or a tissue to support your lamenting. $50 fee. Limited spots available.
