Finlandia Foundation National Opens Applications for Performer and Lecturer of the Year

July 11, 2025Finlandia Foundation National (FFN) is now accepting applications for its flagship cultural programs: Performer of the Year and Lecturer of the Year. Each year, FFN sponsors two outstanding individuals to travel across the United States, presenting at Finnish-American events and sharing their work with audiences nationwide.

This prestigious opportunity is open to musicians, comedians, writers, historians, academics, and cultural practitioners whose work supports or explores Finnish or Finnish-American themes—from traditional folk music to contemporary books, from stand-up comedy to sauna culture.

“Through these programs, we aim to promote Finnish-American heritage, inspire community connection, and elevate unique voices across the country,” says Thomas Flanagan, Executive Director of FFN. “The performers and lecturers we support represent the richness and diversity of Finnish-American identity today.”

The chosen Performer and Lecturer of the Year will be scheduled to appear at FFN chapters and partner events throughout 2026, with travel and performance stipends provided by Finlandia Foundation National.

The deadline to apply is 11:59 P.M. (PST) on October 1, 2025. To apply or nominate someone, please visit the links below:
